Writing Center Experience

I went to the writing center in the second semester for help with my research paper. At the time I went I was working on my outline. My history and English teachers had both told me that this is a great stage to go to the writing center. After having gone, I would say that they were correct. I was able to learn a great deal about perfecting my outline. This information was useful because we had to turn the outline in for a grade. The funny thing about this is that I ended up changing my topic after I went to the writing center. It was more important that I learned skills that apply to making an outline rather than just getting help with that particular instance.

The person who helped me at the writing center was also extremely helpful. I will not use names, but she seemed to enjoy working at the writing center, and she does very well at it. I had already seen her in the first semester, so I made an appointment specifically with her. One thing that was very helpful was that she had the same World History and English teachers that I have the year before. This helped because she was able to tell me what they would expect for the research paper. I ended up doing well on my research paper and even considered it one of my "hits."
